The Danish Museum of Nursing History
Some of the conference sessions will be held at the Danish Museum of Nursing History, a 3-minute walk from Hotel Koldingfjord. The museum is housed in buildings that were formerly a part of The Christmas Seal Sanatorium Koldingfjord. The sanatorium was inaugurated in 1911 and financed through the sale of Christmas seals from 1904 to 1911.

In the 500m2 exhibition area the visitor can see how the care and nursing of patients has developed through the centuries. The exhibition touches on the subjects of “the calling", hierarchy in the hospitals, historical development of nursing, founding of the Danish Nurses Organisation, nurses abroad, treatment, psychiatry, district nursing, education, hygiene, living conditions and so on.
The exhibition includes a reconstruction of a dark and filthy back yard from 19th century Copenhagen, a hospital ward and the private living quarters of a nurse from the 1930s and an operating room.
