Dr. Francois-René Bertin, til at give en opdatering på området.

Dr Bertin graduated from the National Veterinary School of Nantes (France) and completed a Large Animal Internal
Medicine residency at Purdue University (USA). During this program, he developed an interest for obese and geriatric
horses and their metabolic disorders, and authored several research articles on equine insulin dysregulation. After his
residency, Dr Bertin completed a PhD in cardiovascular physiology at McGill University (Canada), investigating the links
between inflammation and haemostasis. He then worked as an Equine Internal Medicine specialist at the Equine Hospital
of The University of Montreal (Canada) before joining The University of Queensland (Australia) as a Senior Lecturer in Equine
Dr Bertin has a keen interest in equine metabolic disorders and developed an Equine Endocrinology Research Centre at The University of
Queensland. He is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) and involved the Education and Research
Committee of the ACVIM. Since 2016, he is also the co-leader of the Equine Endocrinology Special Interest Group at the ACVIM forum.
