Brokerage event – Research needs and funding

NFSD hosts delegates from public and private sector, universities and research institutes from all Nordic and European countries as well as funders. We all seek new knowledge in the field of Fire Safety Engineering and Safety. NFSD has become a suitable platform for project development. Projects need funding, but the funding situations differ in the Nordic countries and in Europe. The European Commission is currently preparing the R&D FP9, the R&D funding programme which will follow ‘Horizon 2020’ and run 2021-2027, with a probable budget of over € 100 billion. Fire safety was absent from Horizon2020 themes. What arguments or actions might enable its inclusion in the “missions” of this next R&D programme? Which research questions should be prioritised? How to link to other themes, such as environment, sustainable buildings, social inclusion, mobility, digitalisation? What are interactions with national fire safety research funding? How to take these questions forward? These questions we want to discuss at the brokerage event at the NFSD2018.

We invite all delegates of the NFSD 2018 and funder to participate.

Agenda:

  • Representatives from National and European funding agencies present their thoughts on the questions (3 minutes per presentation)

The RISE institutes Innventia, SP and Swedish ICT have merged in order to become a stronger research and innovation partner for businesses and society. SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden will continue under its existing Corporate Identity Number 556464-6874.
