NNSP Capacity Building Networks - Engineering, processes and real-space imaging

In the framework of NordForsk’s capacity building networks within neutron scattering science we are happy to present the workshop on Engineering, Processes and Real-Space Imaging.

Neutron scattering is excellent in performing non-destructive in-depth imaging of materials and components. Diffraction provides an excellent tool for determining grains, texture, composition and microscopic strain. Scattering is used to investigate complex flow, phase separations, sintering, welding and other engineering processes. During a 24-hour workshop from lunch to lunch we will bring together academia and industry from the Nordic and Baltic countries working within the field connecting research communities across the region to build critical mass. Focus will be on topics related to the two engineering and imaging instruments at ESS; ODIN (https://europeanspallationsource.se/instruments/odin) and BEER (https://europeanspallationsource.se/instruments/beer

Limited number of participants: Priority is given to participants from the Nordic and the Baltic countries.

Topics for discussion
· Neutron imaging and diffraction for in-situ/in-operando analysis of engineering materials and processes
(complex flow,  phase separations, sintering, welding etc.)

· Neutron imaging and diffraction for in-situ/in-operando analysis of energy materials and components
(batteries, fuel/electrolysis cells, solar cells etc.)
