Policy options for cross-country offshore hubs and energy islands in the North Sea
You are cordially invited to participate in a forthcoming joint workshop hosted by the two EU Horizon 2020 projects "AURES II" (AUctions for Renewable Energy Support II) and "PROMOTioN" (PROgress On Meshed HVDC Offshore Transmission Networks). We are jointly conducting a policy study on offshore hubs and energy islands over a period of 6 months. The aim of the study is to develop proposals for the regulatory design and a suitable international auction design for a first cross-border energy island. The main focus will be on regulatory and market-relevant issues, based on the previous experience of the two projects. In addition, possible political barriers for cross-country collaboration as well as arising joint benefits will be highlighted.
This open stakeholder dialogue workshop is an important part of the collaboration, with the aim of sharing ideas and discussing policy options and barriers for offshore hubs and energy islands. We will have presentations by members of the two EU projects with preliminary findings and invite other stakeholders to share their views. The workshop will contain an interactive session.
