General Information

Overview and Objectives

Wind energy is becoming one of the most important energy sources in Europe. In order to extend the lifetime of wind turbines, and reduce the maintenance costs, the structural health monitoring (SHM) has to be applied to wind turbines. The objective of this Symposium is to discuss ways, technologies and strategies of structural health monitoring, inspections and maintenance of wind turbine blades.

This symposium is organized in the framework of the US-Danish collaborative project  "Structural health monitoring and maintenance of wind turbine blades", involving New York University, Tufts University and Blue Instruments Inc. (USA) and coordinated by Technical University of Denmark, Department of Wind Energy.
